This vintage bracelet is crafted in silver and features a gently tapering band that narrows toward the top, where three round cabochon-cut Swedish Blue pieces (Sw. Bergslagensten) form the central focus. The stones, with their deep, shifting blue tones, are bezel-set in smooth, rounded silver settings. Between each stone, polished silver connectors add rhythm and cohesion to the design. The bracelet opens at one side with a simple hook that fastens into the fixed silver ring on one side, blending seamlessly into the form.
On the wrist, it sits comfortably and elegantly, offering a subtle yet striking presence. A well-balanced piece that combines Swedish craftsmanship with the earthy elegance of regional stone.
Swedish blue, also known as Bergslagssten, is not a natural stone but a historical byproduct of iron production in Sweden during the 18th and 19th centuries. It was formed when the furnace reached high enough temperatures to vitrify the iron ore, creating a glass-like slag with deep blue or bluish-grey tones. This slag, once discarded as industrial waste, was later discovered to have striking visual qualities and was cut and polished for use in jewelry and decorative objects.
