This necklace, named Joy, is made of silver and features a puffed, heart-shaped pendant with a smooth, highly polished surface. The pendant is attached via two small, round loops. The chain consists of long, slightly curved silver bars that taper at both ends. Each bar terminates in a teardrop-shaped loop, which links to the next bar with a ring, forming a continuous, articulated structure. The clasp is a toggle clasp, composed of a T-bar and a circular ring.
The necklace hangs low on the chest and sits flat against the body. Its design appears sculptural and minimal, combining the soft, rounded volume of the heart with the clean, linear rhythm of the chain. The overall impression is bold, elegant, and modern.
Astrid Fog, originally a fashion designer, began creating jewellery to enhance her clothing designs. In 1969, she introduced her first collection for Georg Jensen, which included silver spiral pieces and this minimalist, oversized heart pendant in various sizes. The pendant proved popular and stayed in production for years. Her design philosophy emphasized a thoughtful relationship between each material and the overall form.
