These vintage stud earrings from 1952 by Hugo Strömdahl are crafted in 18 karat gold with a compact yet sculptural form. Each earring is built around a softly curved gold structure that tapers toward the ear, creating a sense of movement within a small scale. A luminous cultured pearl crowns the design, set slightly forward, while beneath it a round blue sapphire and a vertical row of three square-cut rubies are precisely set into the gold.
The contrast between the creamy pearl, the cool sapphire, and the vivid red rubies gives depth and clarity to the composition. As studs, they sit close to the ear and read as refined rather than ornate. Worn, the earrings feel balanced and confident, combining colour, structure, and a quiet elegance.
The renowned jeweler Hugo Strömdahl began crafting high-quality jewelry in 1904 in his atelier on Hamngatan in Stockholm. During World War II, his son Hans, a skilled businessman, established the company Hans Strömdahl.
Hans expanded the business by designing and producing fine jewelry and pearl accessories, which were distributed to retailers across the country. Today, the third generation of the Strömdahl family continues to run the esteemed company, Strömdahls Juveler, with a deep passion for craftsmanship, timeless elegance, and a touch of modern design.
