A vintage ring in 18 karat gold set with a large cultured pearl. The pearl sits prominently at the centre of the design, framed by sculpted gold forms that rise asymmetrically around it. These raised, overlapping folds create depth and movement, giving the top of the ring an almost ribbon-like appearance. The setting feels as though it unfolds around the pearl, creating a strong sculptural presence.
The ring has a comparatively narrow, gently flattened band, which keeps the overall design balanced despite the generous size of the top. On the hand, the pearl stands out clearly while the surrounding gold gives the ring a lively, almost organic character.
Founded in Finland in 1960 by goldsmith Pekka Anttila, Lapponia gained international recognition through its collaboration with sculptor and jewellery designer Björn Weckström, who joined the company in 1963. His sculptural approach transformed jewellery into wearable art, inspired by the rugged landscapes and natural textures of Finnish Lapland.
