A vintage bow brooch in 18 karat gold. The broad gold ribbon is shaped into two rounded loops with softly flared ends, gathered at the centre by a smooth gold band. Its curved construction gives the bow a natural, flowing movement rather than a flat appearance. Fine engraved scrolls and leaf-like details decorate the polished surface, adding depth without taking away from the clear form.
The brooch is fitted with a long pin and trombone clasp, a secure fastening often found on earlier jewellery. Feminine but not overly sweet, it works beautifully on a blazer, at the neckline of a silk blouse or fastened to a scarf. It could also be worn slightly off-centre on a dress or coat — a small golden bow that always looks ready for an occasion.
Heribert Engelbert founded his jewelry company in 1920. During the 1940s, his son, Stig Engelbert, took over the business, and by the late 1940s, he established Ateljé Stigbert.
